All in Good Time

Go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face!

Ha ha I am having my coffee and watching "Uncle Buck" on this chilly Saturday morning. I am trying to caffeine-load and get motivated to go to the gym. Yep I joined a gym for the first time in my life. I of course had to use the gym at Le Moyne during my softball days, so it has been *gulp* 9 years since I have been to a gym. I still love my treadmill but it hasn't been used in quite a while. The last couple places I have lived haven't really been conducive to its use. And when the weather is nice, I prefer to be outside getting my exercise. But now, it's getting cooler and before I know it that pesky white stuff will be here. Working out will have to take place inside. I know what I want to work on so now I just need to get my assk over there. Yeah let's do this!!!! Plus I have to make sure my awesome dress for the wedding will still fit. ha ha

It's amazing how life changes. Take a certain period of time, like 10 years, and compare. 10 years ago I was 21, just started dating my first boyfriend, and loving life in my senior year in college. I didn't need to worry about money, I had awesome friends, and I was at the top of my game playing softball. College was a learning experience but my 20s were a whole new experience. Living in Virginia, learning from a long-term relationship, struggling with looking for and getting a job that would make me happy and pay the bills, forging and losing friendships, seeing how other people change. It's so crazy! Not that all this stuff doesn't still happen but at least my 20s made me a seasoned veteran. Now I have a better understanding of what I want and need. It should be interesting to see, at 41, what I had learned in my 30s! But hey I am in no hurry to get there. This decade may see marriage and kids...well maybe not mine. ha ha

Let's see what else is new. Oh I joined a bowling league! I love it! I never really thought I was even remotely good at bowling but I definitely enjoy it. This past Monday was our first night. I was nervous because I am the rookie, and I figured I would have the worst scores and need to make friends with my new teammates. I met Karen at the bar for a drink before heading to the lanes. My first game wasn't too bad - 120 was the final tally. I was having a good time, chatting with the team, and eating all sorts of bad food. My second was slightly better at 124. That is typical - first game is a warm up and second game is usually better. But by the third game I am getting tired and my scores plummet. My first frame ended with a strike. I was a little surprised. The second frame also ended with strike. Now I was psyched! The third through the eighth frames all included spares! I couldn't believe it - what had gotten into me! The final two frames went well but no strikes or spares, and I ended the third game with a 196! Four pins away from 200!! Argh but I was so excited! I am glad I didn't suck too badly and hopefully made a good first impression with my team. ha ha Now the pressue is on. Rats.

Okay it's time. Time to get to the gym so there!

Leg up!!
